bas
t is pretty compatible to typical BASIC interpreters of the 1980s, unlike some other UNIX BASIC interpreters, that implement a different syntax, breaking compatibility to existing programs. Bas offers many ANSI BASIC statements for structured programming, such as procedures, local variables and various loop types. Further there are matrix operations, automatic LIST indentation and many statements and functions found in specific classic dialects. Line numbers are not required.
This site contains two variants of bas:
bas_mh is Michael Haardt's original version of the language
bas_pw is Paul Wratt's adaptation, with improvements to the colour handling and new CHAIN and MERGE commands.
These two packages conflict with one another: Use either one or the other.
basku is a set of routines by me to make bas a more useful language in the Haiku context. In a normal install, the routines will be installed to /boot/system/lib/basku, with documentation in /boot/system/documentation/packages/basku.
