    The answer is...it depends. Some games some with locations, skills and
    the like, some are barebones ready for you to build your own. I think a lot of the Diki and CircleMUD, and similar were like that.

    As for mine, it DID come pretty much barebones. But there are premade whole areas that you can plug in, as well as creating your own whole new areas.

    A friend and I were writing a MUD pretty much from scratch. We got pretty far but it fizzled out just as we got a few skills in because of real life for both
    of us. We were planning on some sort of play for enhancement system to make cash when we were both rather broke lol.

    Maybe when I retire and have nothing better to do I'll revisit from my beach hut or something lol.
