Is there an easy way to convert a Windows Synchro to Linux (Debian) system? I tried the migration set up by copying the CTRL DATA NODE1 and MODS and XTRN directories, but had some issues with errors popping up..
I started
from scratch and got just about everything copied re-configured and have all the messages, files, users etc copied but now the BBS stats are not showing (total calls, etc.) Any simple ways??

What errors?
The stats are stored in ctrl/csts.* and ctrl/dsts.*, make sure you copied those files over. If you care about the node statistics, you'll need to copy those same files from the node directories.

Not necessarily errors, but binding issues, I watched your video and start it with sudo and it switches over to the sbbs user automatically like it is supposed to, but when I copied those directories over the previous directories it wouldn't switch anymore. Now that I think about it, I am thinking it might have been priveledge issues.. I have a backup of it I might try that again..

Cool, I will do that, I think that is the only thing holding it back now. Appreciate the help.

Oops, and I just noticed you were copying over from Windows, so none of this applies :D... Still keeping the post as a suggestion for future backups.
Re: Conversion from Windows To Lin
hey i think you are lost.
these are sysops. nobody fucking backs up.
I have heard "lost it in a hard drive crash" 1 million times.
I provide bbs hosting and setup automatic backups. nobody downloads their bbs backups EVER.
LOL I just might use that as an excuse here. Restart the BBS from scratch in Linux and say I had a hard drive crash.. Would solve any and all I am doing.. LOL

Re: Conversion from Windows To LinActually, only games I have on the system are the Synchro Games, the rest are on a Door Server of Synchro which runs on Windows.. My 3 boards take advantage of the same game listings. Works out well as I only have to install once..

just save the important files and copy it over.
you'll have to do dosemu for the games, though

it would be nice if synchronet had a doorgame repo function where it just installed the popular doorgames if you selected it.

It would be, but what is the fun in that?!?! LOL Installing these games makes for some hair pulling, and time that you will never get back... LOL

Synchronet alredy has that feature: http://wiki.synchro.net/module:install-xtrn
22: C:\sbbs\xtrn\war/
Because those are the doors you physically copied/extracted already. There are 159 total 3rd-party doors already supported (see xtrn/3rdp-install/*.ini).

Can others connect to that?
