Does anyone have a good deal on some 45 acp target amo?

They don't show it right now, but Acadamy is a good place to
buy in general. I've been ordering 9mm Brass 124 grain for $20
    a box!

That's better than $35 a box, but has far to go to get back to .21 a
    round or less.

Very true... I think we're still a ways from those prices again...

Same here. Always had a small interest in it. Now that I have a .357
lever gun I might start loading some .38's... I'd like to cast my
    own bullets too...

Yes, when I bake a pie or cake I like to do it from scratch. :-)

I haven't tried casting yet. The club I belong to has yearly bullet
trap cleanouts, so a source of workable lead alloy is not an issue. I know some who powder coat their cast bullets to reduce barrel fouling.

Been seeing that in the magazines...

I only have some home defense 45acps and a box or 2 of 50 for range stuff.. I have not been to a range in like 4 years its sad... atleast I am good with the bb gun!

Harbor Frieght sells an inpensive kit and powders, and you can use a toaster oven to cook the coating on. Some forgo the oven and do a "shake without the bake" and place some powder coat in a bag with the bullets, and add a bit of acetone to dissolve the paint. After a shake or two to spread the paint around, you take them out of the bag and let sunlight cook of fthe acetone
and hardent he powdercoat. It's not as even, so you re-size the coated bullets. The paint is durable enough it doesn't crack off while sizing.

i would love to do that. I have a nice garage i just need to work on it some with electrical etc but a basic "roll your own" station is a must. What would you recomend for a reloader? I looked into it 5 years ago so
im lost on the good brands.

    chris

I guess it depends on what you want to get out of the hobby. Asking that question is like asking what the best car is, or the best anything. Everyone you ask is going to have a different opinion. I use single station presses, one is RCBS Reloader Special II, the other is a CH. My shotgun presses (as most are) are turret types, both are MEC presses. These work fine for me as I don't load or shoot a large quantity so one stage at a time, one round at a time works well. Those with an interest running more towards quantity and (slightly) less toward quality would probably be better served with a turret or progressive press.

I think the most important factor is.... Get what you can afford right now, use it, get into the swing of the hobby and then upgrade as you identify your particular needs. You'll always be able to sell the equipment you've outgrown as long as it's not abused.

I've not heard of that store - I don't know of one around here - but
I'm finding it more and more at the 18 - 20 a box price...
