Maybe it was the apostrophe that threw me off.

I wonder if evidence collected by a fed that joined The Viper's BBS without a warrant
would be valid, since the signup would have been done against the ToS of the board.
Maybe it is not about preventing feds from joining but about limiting what they can
    make use off :-)

My guess is that putting that statement in an advertisement does not
establish that policy as a "ToS" for the board. There's no indication
that a potential user has to AGREE to that as a condition of use. It
*might* be different if there is a questionaire during the signup that
asks that specific question and requires you to answer, but just the advertisement alone -- I think not.

AFAIK, it's pretty much meaningless legally. Any "fed" signing in for
legal reasons wouldn't need to follow that rule/exclusion, and anyone
that respected the rules might side with #1A would be excluded from any conversation. It could even trigger unwanted attention if noticed.

    It's mostly virtue signalling.

End user agreements are not an affirmative defense for illegal activity. Although it could require a warrant, and FISA courts tend to rubber

It's definitely part of the lore of old dial-up BBSes. Most of 1337 BBSes

1000% agree. El Camino was just "okay" for me, but I think BB is
